Nurse — Nights, Churchtown, Dublin 14 (Intellectual Disability)

Nurse
Full Time
Dublin / Ireland

Five nights a week, Monday to Friday. One person, in their own home.

A 27-year-old in Churchtown lives at home with their family rather than in a residential unit. That is only possible because a nurse is with them through the night, and we need one more.

This is one-to-one nursing. You would care for the same person on every shift, know their routine and their tells, recognise a difficult night before it arrives, and be the reason their family can sleep.

The hours

  • Five nights a week, Monday to Friday, the same every week. Never a weekend
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9pm to 9am
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 8pm to 8am
  • Full and Part-time available

Why this role is worth a look

  • One patient, not a ward, and nobody pulling you to another bay at 3am
  • Churchtown is on the Luas and several bus routes. No car needed
  • Every nurse gets full training in tracheostomy care, epilepsy and PEG feeding
  • Continuity. You will know this person and this family properly, for as long as you want the case
  • A Clinical Nurse Manager at the end of the phone on every shift

Who this suits

RNIDs, and RGNs who have worked with adults with an intellectual disability. If your experience is in disability services rather than paediatrics, this is the role for you. Paediatric experience is not required.

Requirements

  • RNID, or RGN with intellectual disability experience, with active NMBI registration
  • Experience of PEG feeding and seizure management, covered by in-house training
  • Comfortable working alone overnight in a family home
  • Confident, calm and thorough with documentation and handover

What we offer

  • Full and Part-time available
  • Full clinical training and induction before your first shift
  • Ongoing support and supervision from the nursing team
