Paediatric Complex Care Nurse — Nights, Lusk, Co. Dublin

Nurse
Full Time
Dublin / Ireland

Three nights a week, 10pm to 8am. One child, at home. Drivers only.

There is a four-year-old in Lusk who is at home tonight rather than on a hospital ward. That is only possible because a nurse is with them overnight, and we need one more.

This is one-to-one nursing in a family home. You would care for the same child on every shift, know their baseline, recognise a difficult night before it arrives, and give their parents the one thing a ward never can: a full night’s sleep under their own roof.

The hours

  • Nights, 10pm to 8am, three a week
  • A two-week rotation: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday one week, then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the next
  • 30 hours a week, never a weekend, and four days off in every seven

Why this role is worth a look

  • One patient, not a ward. Time to do the job the way you were trained to do it
  • No bleeps, no bed management, nobody pulling you to another bay at 3am
  • Every nurse gets full training in tracheostomy care, epilepsy and PEG feeding.
  • Continuity. You will know this child and this family properly, for as long as you want the case
  • A Clinical Nurse Manager at the end of the phone on every shift

You do not need a paediatric qualification

Experience of caring for children is essential. A paediatric registration is not. If you are an RGN or RNID with solid paediatric experience, in hospital or in the community, we want to hear from you.

Requirements

  • RGN, RCN or RNID with active NMBI
  • Experience of paediatric care
  • Comfortable working alone in a family home overnight
  • A full driving licence and your own transport are essential. The home is not reachable by public transport at night

What we offer

  • Full clinical training and a paid induction before your first shift [TO CONFIRM: induction is paid]
  • Ongoing support and supervision from the paediatric nursing team
